Where is pingu from
It ran until the year , and then again from to after the rights shifted. Fun fact, it actually has a whopping episodes that were all five minutes long, and a special 25 minute episode. Pingu has been broadcast in dozens of countries likely thanks to the fact that it doesn't contain any real languages in it , even reaching as far as places like Malaysia, India, and Japan. I'm as devastated about this as you are. Fun fact: the language everyone speaks is called "Pinguish" or "Penguinese.
Carlo Bonomi was a children's entertainer and voice actor from Italy, and he provided the voices of all the characters until production of the show moved to the UK. He had already developed a fictional language for a show he was in called La Linea , which is why he was asked to voice Pingu. Just about all of them have names based off of "Pingu" too. However, he has caused some unexpected incidents when he does crazy things!
Just as Pingu is good at getting into scrapes, he is good at getting out of trouble, too. His fun-loving personality never fails to charm everyone. She loves her brother and follows him everywhere. Occasionally, when she thinks that her brother is ignoring her, Pinga gets so upset that she ends up crying!
Pinga is a cutie loved by everyone, but her carelessness tends to cause trouble for those around her, especially her big brother, Pingu! Father is a busy postman, but he always puts his family first. He is also good with housework and at making toys. He sometimes gets angry when his kids get too naughty, but at the end of the day, he is a loving dad who just wants his children to be happy and healthy.
When a British company bought the rights in , they needed someone who could speak Penguinese as well as Bonomi did, so I sent them my CV. I needed the money. Recording was exhausting. The animators would script each episode in English, then film it with the puppets. Afterwards we had to translate the scripts into Penguinese, recording each part while watching the characters talking on screen. I shared Pingu with Marcello Magni, who also had a background in physical theatre.
The show was created in the s by a Swiss-German called Otmar Gutmann and, right from the start, it was unembarrassed about things like bodily fluids, nappies, potties and their contents. It could be quite controversial.
